The Young Changemakers is an arts based program that ran from 2022-2025, reaching over 4000 students in schools across Toronto. It was designed to build children’s confidence, emotional wellbeing and community connections, and to increase equitable access to arts programming in schools. It was led in partnership with Koffler Arts, Recreate Place and a multidisciplinary team of collaborators - artists, educators, evaluation specialists and volunteers. To learn more click here.

In celebration of the City of Toronto’s Year of Public Art (2022), Recreate Place collaborated with ArtworxTO, children, teachers and local artists to explore how children provide meaningful insight and ideas into the vision of public art. Three elementary schools in Toronto participated in an immersive experience where children shared ideas about their role in public art. Children collaborated with artists to create publicly accessible art installations on their school grounds for everyone to enjoy.
Through this experience, children were empowered to express their ideas, build connections to one another, and voice their ideas around a more inclusive and representative vision for public art in Toronto.
